Samsung 2S0 FE to Get One UI 5 with Android 13

Samsung, as a leading Android device manufacturer, builds its reputation further by supporting devices that are still widely used though replaced on store shelves. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, an affordable yet powerful smartphone still popular among users, still gets major updates on the highest level, including the latest OS and UI.

Though the device was released in 2020 as the compromise between relatively affordable price and premium features packed into its body, its specs are worth a try. Powered by quite a flagship CPU Exynos 990 (for South Korea) or Snapdragon 865 by Qualcomm (for the U.S.), it also has quite decent 6GB RAM, 128 GB RAM, an impressive triple rear camera module plus a great front one.

It was initially supposed to receive two or three major updates in the future. As we see, the latter appeared to be the case. Released with Android 10 and One UI 2.5, now it receives the third major software update, reaching Android 13 and One UI 5. This makes the smartphone relevant, at least in terms of app and service support, in 2023 as well as it was in 2020.

The update comes under the number G780FXXUAEVK3 and requires over 2GB of storage. It is available on air, and, if you haven’t disabled update notifications, your device will alert you as soon as it’s available. So far, though, only the Exynos version has begun receiving the update. Those on Snapdragon will have to wait a little more, but, given that the update is on its way for the entire S20 family, this won’t take long.

Even if this is the last official major update for S20 FE, it doesn’t mean this is the last update. There are custom ROMs for most Samsung smartphones, given their popularity. For example, if you have Samsung S10 (in any version), you can update it to Android 13 – not officially, but by installing LineageOS 20, a community-built Android-based firmware.

If you have Samsung S20 FE, how do you like it? Have you already upgraded the OS, or are you waiting for the first reviews? Tell us about your impressions in the comment section!
