Instagram Brings More Control to Your Feed

Recently, Instagram users have faced the cluttered feed problem. Many of them are not interested in the daily review of all the updated posts. There is specific content for which users enter the app. But scrolling through the endless number of posts, you can easily forget why you originally entered it.

What Instagram Has to Offer?

You can follow several brands and creators you are interested in, but this does not mean that their posts are your main priority. Most of us want to keep up with the updates from our friends and family.

To make it easier for users to access their desired posts, Instagram is testing a new feature called ‘Favorites,’ as reported by The Verge. A future update will allow you to prioritize and categorize the most important accounts of your friends or creators. This way, their content will be better visible in the feed.

There is no clear answer yet whether this function will be introduced or reworked into a different-looking feature. But we can safely assume that Instagram will take action to solve this problem. For now, this feature exists as a 'Close Friends' option that allows you to choose with whom to share your stories.

What Do We Have Now?

Now the order of posts in your Instagram feed depends on certain things. For example, which posts from your subscriptions you have recently shared in stories or directly. The app also calculates how likely you are to interact with certain content. Content that you “like” matters too, but not all that interests you is what you want to see in your feed.

The ‘Favorite’ feature isn't new to Instagram. Back in 2017, the same feature was tested, then it allowed you to limit the specific audience for each post. Thus, it became possible to share photos only with a circle of people you carefully selected. Now we can only wait for the new version of favorites to come.
